A short story told by Sai Baba

Om Sadguru Sainathaya Namah

Few days ago there in a comment of post about Kushabhav in Shirdi. for writing about stories or a parables told by Sai Baba, sitting in Holy and sacred Dwarkamai, mentioned in Shirdi diary of G. S. Khaparde. One example given in the comment, was "that of transforming the lower part of HIS body to parrot."

This brought a thought of going through Shri G. S. Khaparde's diary once again. A post has been written about a day in Shirdi around 1912 A.D. It is suppose to appear on blog on 2nd June and this one on the third June. A description of the same was given in Gujarati book Sai Sarovar, before writing it, it was the best time to go through the diary as it contains the mushing of day to day happenings in Shirdi. Read half the book before writing the post and could find few things to write about how Sai Baba used to talk and look.

The stories and parables, told by Sai Baba and noted by Mr. G. S. Khaparde, many of them were stopped by some one coming in the Masjid in the midst of the stories. Many stories told by Sai Baba, had meaning with some one sitting in the Masjid. A good example of that is the stories of two gentleman described in Shri Sai SatCharitra chapter 36.

The example of a story about exchanging the lower part of the body with the parrot had caught my attention, when i had read it before and even when i read the diary again to get some visions of what happened during those days.

This story makes significant meaning to me, so will write down the story given in diary along with the significance or the the understanding i get from it. The story for me gives the significance of spiritual journey.

The story say that Sayin Maharaj said that

He used to sit in a corner and desired to exchange the the lower part of body for that of a parrot. The exchange came and he did not realize for a year and loss one lakh of rupees.

Sai Baba i feel was talking symbolically about man's natural state or a state very similar to animals, where man is bound to desires, greed, lust, attachments, jealousy and such. The lower body symbolizes the lower desires. The symbol of the parrot, the brigh,t colorful and flying here and there, seldom at rest. A mention of lakh of rupees is made without even realizing it. In this state man loses much but seldom realizes what he is losing in the quest of worldly colorful greeds. One goes through joys and sorrows, up and downs a sort of amusement ride, in an amusement park, all without significant meaning to it.

the story continues

Then he began to sit near post and a great serpent woke up and was very angry. It use to jump up and also fall from above.

Sitting near a post, means sitting near a SadGuru or an awakened one. Whose consciousness is steady like a post, never going up and down. Sitting near a SadGuru, that is what Satsang signifies, you sit near SadGuru doing nothing, and the powerful aura or vibrations or whatever one may say makes the serpent awake. Serpent symbolizes Kundalini, an energy that rises from the base of spine and reaches the crown of head. In beginning it rises in certain situations and falls. It's not steady. That's where the spiritual journey starts, when one realizes that following the greed and sensational pleasures robes one of the essential strength.

That is what happened to me near the stone stone on which Sai Baba used to sit, which is placed in the outer courtyard of the Dwarkamai or Masjid, in the sacred land Shirdi.

Then in Shri Khaparde's diary, he writes that

Then He changed the subject apparently and that He visited a place and Patil there would not let Him go unless He made a plantation and hard footpath. He said He completed both.

It looks a change in subject to Mr. Kharpade but not for me. For me the same subject continues and brings me a very important and vital direction. Patil symbolizes The SadGuru or the owner, He would not let Him go until the plantation and a hard footpath is made.

The rising of snake is felt while reading sacred text Sai SatCharitra. The vibrations or the energy takes over the body and mind. Lately it happens with great force while attending the morning Kakad Arati, which is attended online. The start of it is mentioned in this post, in detail. That post was not intended but happened.

So the work of plantation and hard footpath is on with the writer. Does not know when it will be over. But right now the serpent gets the fuel from reading the sacred text and attending the morning Kakad Arati, which were never a source of attraction in my Shirdi pilgrimages, now it is!

But He has not called me to Shirdi since then. Yet the Patil (Sai Baba) is working, His immense love will not let this one to fall back, where the money is lost, without the realization of it. The realization of losing the money comes and one has to read the sacred text and fuel the serpent. And am unaware of what more work has the Patil in store for this devotee. Right now it's reading, writing and morning Kakad Aratis, and the grace or love or energy does not allow any space for any worry or any care. The absence of that allows it and one rushes for the fuel.

A day in Shirdi around 1912 A.D

Om SadGuru SaiNath Maharaj Ki Jai!

Devotees deeply attached with Sai Baba of Shridi, often dream, wish or wonder about being present in Shirdi when Sai Baba was in body. So many devotee's deep love for Sai Baba makes them think and feel that, they must have been in Shirdi in their past lives. I have often come across devotees indulging in a mock quarrel about who would have been who, in their past life in Shirdi. Whether they got the occasional beating and abuse from Sai Baba. Thought of getting beaten or abuse by Sai Baba, while in Shirid creates joy in their hearts. This is the love of and for Sai Baba.

Below is discription of Activities till noon in Shirdi around 1912 A.D.

Early in morning at Chavadi Sai Baba would wake up and Kakad Arati would be performed by Megha. Devotees would rise early and after bath would gather at the Chavadi to attend the sacred Arati.

Devotees would go to their respective staying places and do their routine work, many engaging themselves in their form of worship, meditation, reading, singing or listening to Bhajans.

After the morning Kakad Arati, if Sai Baba had stayed at Chavadi he whole move to Dwarkamai. There Bhagoji Sinde would massage Sai Baba's hand with ghee put a leaf over it and would bandage it. This was daily done after Sai Baba had thrust His hand in fire and the hand got burnt, on asking why He did that, Sai Baba replied that far at one devotee's home a child was about to fall in fire and He did that to save the child. He did not mind His hand burnt, as the child was saved. One can read this incident in Shri Sai SatCharitra chapter 27.

At the same time Radhakirshnamai and Abdul Baba would sweep the roads from Masjid (Dwarkamai) to the Lendi Baug. Bhagoji would then light up a chillum and offer it to Sai Baba. After few exchanges of puffs from the chillum, Sai Baba would get up from His Gadi and would gallantly wash His hands, feet and mouth.

At about 9.30 in the morning when Shri Sai Baba came out for the Lendi, people would gather there. An embroidered umbrella would be carried over Sai Baba's head. Devotees and villagers would gather and walk along with Sai Baba, shouting the Jyakar with devotion and joy. People would also gather around Sathe and Dixit wada to watch the procession and offer their Namaskars.

As Sai Baba entered the Lendi Baug nobody except Abdul Baba was permitted to be with him. Abdul Baba in his interview has described briefly what happened there.

Kakasaheb Dixit would do parayan of Ramayana and other spiritul books that Sai Baba had directed him to read. Devotees would gather to listen to the same.

After returning from Lendi, Sai Baba would go for begging in four houses and return to Masjid and take his seat. Mahalsapati would make a tripund on Sai Baba's forehead and do his Puja. Other devotees would follow and do the Puja according to their own styles. Megha would come with Bela leaves and offer his Puja to Sai Baba and perform noon Arati standing on one leg.

After the Arati Sai Baba would distribute fruits and prasad to the gathered devotees and children. Children would get the best of the eatables. Standing on the edge of Majid Sai Baba would lovingly and sweetly send off all the gathered devotees after giving them sacred udi.

From Khaparde's diary below are the few lines

Sayin Sahib (Sai Baba), spoke with such a wonderful sweetness and would smile so often and with such extraordinary grace that the conversation will always remain engraved in my memmory.

Sayin Maharaj looked at me with an eye blazed wonderfully and sparkled with anger. (Here Shri Kaparde notices one eye of Sai Baba sparkled wonderfully)

He looked wonderfully beautiful at the Arati time.

If one reads Khaparde's dairy it is quite evident that mostly Sai Baba told short stories.

Megha unique devotee of Sai Baba

Chapter 28 of Sacred text Shri Sai SatCharitra contains few stories about Megha. Megha was a unique devotee of Sai Baba. Initially the traditional and societally way of thinking prevented him from going to Sai Baba in Shirdi and accept him as Sadguru.

Megha had a heart of a devotee, whatever he had learned according to the Hindu tradition, was performed by him with total devotion and intensity. It was not just another morning or noon or evening prayers or rituals. His heart was with what he did, and whatever he had learned he had faith in it. Those were the days when Hindus considered that even the shadow of a person form another faith or religion was enough to make them polluted and a bath and rituals were needed for the cleansing from the same. It was more so with the Muslim tradition as the Mughals had ruled since decades and many of the rulers were ruthless, and the followed the taboos like eating meat.

Megha while on the way to Shirdi, learned from few people that Sai Baba was a Muslim Fakir. That was enough for the simple and trained mind of Megha to feel a repel force from meeting Sai Baba. However those who had felt and lived the the immense love and sacredness of Sai Baba also from the same tradition could manage to manage to send him to Shirdi, despite the rebel of his mind.

When Megha went t Shirdi near the Dwarkamai, he was welcomed by the abuse and fury of Sai Baba. Sai Baba did not let him enter the Holy Majid. Sai Baba spoke out the words that were going on in his mind, the fear of getting spiritually polluted on meeting a Muslim Fakir.

The consequences of thinking of Sadguru or a perfect master as low are serious according to the laws of karma. The following was said by Sai Baba to Shama on the same subject.

Saibaba said, “Don’t look down or talk ill of others, especially a Satpurush for the ill effect of it will be seen on the future generations. Your Guru and Father should be treated with love and respect, do whatever Seva you can do for both of them. Have total faith in them."

Also when the Sadguru himself punishes for this act the karma is cleansed away. If Gods get angry Sadguru can save you but if Sadguru gets angry or treated badly, not even the Gods can help you. Sadgurus kind at heart know this and punishes their dear ones only to save them from a harsher punishment they would get.

Thus Megha was saved from the serious consequences, of a mistake that is so common among most humans. Megha unaware of the help and love he got in form of anger, left the place with heavy heart. Spent much of his time doing the prayers and rituals. Megha's mind might be unaware but his simple heart and the soul, which understands the language of love and sacredness got him pulled again to Shirdi.

Megha was immensely benefited from his Shirdi stay. His simple heart, his devotion made him realize many spiritual experiences. Sai Baba was Lord Shiva for him. Megha would walk miles to get the bilwa leaves used for Shiv Puja and dear to lord Shiva.

Megha had a jata, long knotted hair on his head, wide forehead. He used to perform Kakad Arati of Sai Baba, every morning. In Maharashtra and and many villages of India, those days food was cooked stoves called chuli or chula, that used wood as fuel. Such two stoves can still be seen out courtyard of Dwarkamai, which Sai Baba used to cook food many times, and distribute it to poor, needy, fakirs, animals, devotees alike.

A wooden stick was wrapped with a long piece of cloth dipped in liquid fuel, was lightened and put between the load of woods in the stove so that they catch fire. This was called Kakad in the locality. Similarly a long wood stick wrapped with cloth and dipped in oil was used to perform this morning Arati, hence named as Kakad Arati.

Noon Arati Megha used perform standing one legged on his left foot. Shri Kharpade use to daily note down each days happenings in a diary. This was done in Shirdi too, pages written during his Shirdi stay have been published by Shri Saibaba Sansthan and is available in Sansthan's store. Shri Kharpade has written that on 19th January 1912 A.D. , that that morning during the morning Arati Sai Baba kept His eyes closed and did not spread his love and grace through his glances. Further Shri Khaparde in his diary notes,

'Sai Baba came just as the body was being brought out and loudly lamented his death. His voice was so touching that it brought tears to every eye.'

Further it is noted, I remember how Sai Baba foretold his death three days ago. "This is the last Aarti of Megha"

In an entry dated 12-12-1911, in his diary Mr. G. S. Khaparde, it is written that day the breakfast was late as Megha could not get the leaves of Bela and had to go long distance for them. So mid day Puja was not finished till about 1.30 p.m. This indicates that Sai Baba waited for his usual Puja and Arati beyond it's regular time. There is a similar remark in entry dated 17 - 12 - 1911 A.D.

Shama and religious texts

When Sai Baba spoke most people felt that all the attention gathered on their ears and the wandering mind got concentrated without effort. The words would pierce deep inside the heart and soul. Shraddha (Faith) and Saburi (patience) developed by the power of grace around Shri Saibaba.

The words seemed to pour out from the deepest of divine knowledge and those who use to study religious books and books dealing with spiritual subjects felt that all that was written in those books was coming out of Sai Baba's mouth, many a times in much more simplified manner. Sai Baba was never seen reading any scriptures or books. The knowledge came out of the real source. Sai Baba did not require any book study, it is well know that He knew everything that had happened, that was going and about to happen.

Sai Baba would tell if anybody was reading any scripture, and what he was reading, whether it was from one of the many religious scriptures from Hindu traditions or holy Koran or any other spiritual text from any other religion.

Sai Baba was never for any particular religion. What mattered was the development of divine and sacred qualities in his devotees. No particular set path but hundreds and thousands paths each according to devotees need. To many He guided to read spiritual books, to many egoless seva (service), later he allowed His puja and Aratis as a means to spiritual development, to some meditation in solitude, to some worship, prayers, namasmaran in form of chants, surrendering to God’s will, alertness of self, …………

Reading of religious scriptures was advised to many. Devotees use to bring religious scriptures like Dassavatar Charitra, PanchRatna Gita, Gyaneshwari, Ramayana, Guru Lilamrut, Sant Lilamrut, RamVijay, to Sai Baba, with the desire that He touches the book and return it back. The devotees on reading these scriptures that were sanctified with Sai Baba's touch found to be more fruitful.

Many a books were sent through Shama, as with many other requests were made through Shama to Sai Baba. If the devotees were a little hesitant to put a subject in front of Saibaba it was Shama they requested . Scriptures and religious books sent through Shama were returned by the Sai Baba to the ones who gave them or sent them. However, this was not the case with every book.

Many times the books were not returned, and those book were given to Shama. Sai Baba used to give all these scriptures to Shama, many a times forcing Shama to do so. He would say, 'Keep this in our office, it will be of good use.'

Incident about Shama being given the sacred and religious books are given in the sacred text, Shri Sai SatCharitra chapter 27.

Sai Baba and Shama

Sai Baba and Shama the stories continues. There are two stories described well in the sacred text, Shri Sai SatCharitra. One story when Shama was bitten by a poisonous snake, described in chapter number 23, and another one in chapters dedicated to the sacred udi, in chapter number 34 how the then dreaded disease of Shama's sister in law, Bubonic plague was treated within a night with Sai Baba's Udi and grace, is described.

Bubonic plague was too feared a disease in those days, chances of survival were very less. when Shama (Madhavrao Deshpande) herd the news of her sister in law affected by it, he was much disturbed and wanted to see her. As it was a custom to go and ask Sai Baba before leaving Shirdi, Shama went straight to Masjid, to ask Sai Baba for the leave. It was late night hours and Shama was one of the handful of devotees who could meet and talk with Sai Baba at any time. So he went to Sai Baba and with tearful eyes and heavy heart he told what has happened to Sai Baba.

Sai Baba aware of everything that was happening and about the future happenings, asked Shama not to go at late hours, but to go and visit his brother's house next morning and He added to return quickly. Shama attacked by the fear did not understood the meaning of return quickly. Also Saibaba gave a handful of sacred udi and said, ' Give this Udi to Bapji (Shama's elder brother) Malik will do good.'

He spent the night in the fear, next early morning he rushed to Sai Baba for the permission to go. Again Shri Saibaba said, 'You may go, but come back quickly.' again due to the fear of what condition his sister in law would be, Shama did not get the later statement in his mind.

On the other side Bapji somewhat disturbed as Shama did not came with him, went home with the sacred udi. He applied some on the developed buboes, some udi he mixed with water and gave it to his wife, the patient. Within few minutes her body perspired greatly, the fever was gone and she slept peacefully. On waking up another morning she found herself to be totally healthy. No trace of fever, no buboes and no signs of physical weakness. It was a miracle of Sai Baba's Udi and grace. She took to her house hold duties.

Shama on reaching saw this and got enraged. He thought he was cheated by wrong information. when he herd about the miracle, tears flowed from his eyes, once again knowing the immense love of Shri Sai Baba.

Devotees experiences - Surekha

ONE RUPEE--BABAS GIFT:
------------------------------

-----------
Once in a week, I used to go to the Sai Baba temple in Shenoy Nagar (Chennai).I feel so relieved when I am there & not to exaggerate, I would say it's the heaven on earth.

One such evening, I went to the temple …..I was admiring Baba's portrait in the temple & I was
engrossed in my own world. The Poojari was distributing the prasatham & when he came next to me, I took out my wallet & offered Rs.20 on the pooja plate. I didn't even realize that it was the only money I had in my wallet to return home. I was so worried & started digging my wallet
to see whether, I have some cash…..but no go.

I just had Rs.2.50.If I had to take a city bus, I would need Rs.3.50 (i.e one rupee extra). I was terribly upset & was above to cry. It was 6.45 pm then. I was so confused & helpless & didn't know what I need to do. I thought of asking the poojari for one rupee, but I felt disgraceful to do that. I went to one corner in the temple & sat quietly & prayed to Baba ( I prayed that if somebody whom I know comes to the temple ,I could ask them the one rupee which I needed. But nobody came.)

I started crying & literally spoke to Baba." This is what you want to do to me. I have no money. I am in need of just one rupee & like a beggar I am expecting that someone would help me" …………after some time I consoled myself saying I shall start walking home( it takes at least 2 ½ hrs from Shenoy Nagar to my home in Anna Nagar). Before leaving I wanted to go around the temple once.

When I reached the place, exactly behind the temple, I saw 'one rupee coin' on the wall. I was shocked to see a coin on the wall. (I went close to the wall to see whether the coin was stuck by someone, using gum or chandan. But nothing was used. I was literally shocked, for I am sure that no object can just stay on any vertical wall).I kept on starring at the coin & didn't want to
take it, because I thought it was someone else's money. The moment, I thought that way, I could hear Baba saying in a kind tone "It is for you. Take it".

And when I took the coin from the wall, I could feel Sai Baba's palm. My Baba had given me what I wanted right away from his own hands. I didn't want to spend that coin & so I walked home that night. I have that coin safe with me & will treasur it till I die. I can earn millions & crores in my lifetime …but that coin is priceless & is always special to me!

Om Sai Jai Jai Sai !

Warm Regards,
Surekha

Sai Baba's Assurance about Dwarkamai

Continuing from stories from Sai Sarovar from the last post, the story of Sai Baba curing the eyes of Shama comes. It has already been written on the blog and can be read by following the link. Then the story described in the sacred text, what many devotees feel as Sai Baba himself, Shri Sai Satcharitra chapter number 22.

The stories of Shama (Madhavrao Deshpande) continues, after few stories of Kusha Bhav.

In 1910 A.D. December 11th (Hindu calendar Vikram Savant 1966 Magshar Sud 8 Saturday), the officer of Ahmednagar, Shri Mirikar had to visit another officer in Chitli. The meeting was on Sunday, and Shirdi was on the way. So Mirikar decided to have Darshan of Shri Sai Baba.

Mirikar reached Shirdi in the morning, took Darshan of Sai Baba in the Masjid, did Sashtang pranam, washed Sai Baba's feet with water from Godavari and drunk the same as tirth. Mirikar attended all the Aratis in Shirdi.

In the afternoon Darbar of Sai Baba in Dwarkamai (Masjid), Kakasaheb Hari Sitaram Dixit, Madhav Rao (Shama), Balwant son of Atmaram Kharpade, Aranya Saheb, Kaka Mahajani, and many more devotees were present, to sit and experience the Divine presence of Sai Baba.

Today Sai Baba looked enraged, His eyes were showing some mystical shine. This kind of Darshan is rare for human kind.

Sai Baba talked in mystical language, then He said, "World has turned worse, people are not the way they were before, before people were with faith and sacredness, now they have turned Nastik (atheist), now they look for harming others." Then Sai Baba talked about His previous births.

Suddenly turning towards Mirikar, He asked, "Arre, Do you know about our Dwarkamai?"

Mirikar could not reply to the question and remained silent.

Sai Baba continued, "This Masjid is our Dwarkamai, Dwarkmai is the protector of those who sits in Her lap, She makes them fearless, this Masjid is too kind, who ever sits in Her lap gets salvation (Beda par ho jaye).

In the evening when Mirikar went to Sai Baba to ask for the leave as it was custom in Shirdi, Sai Baba raised his hand making the shape of an alert cobra, and said, "Do you know this lambudas (long one)? It is dangerous, but what can it do to the children of Dwarkamai? who can harm the ones on whose head is the hand of protector with thousand hands?

Shama was present there when Mirikar came for the leave. Sai Baba asked Shama to go with Mirikar and have some fun. Shama told that he will be ready after he change the clothes. Mirikar said that it would not be fine to give Shama the trouble. Sai Baba said, "Alright, do not go. We should mean well and do well. Whatever is destined to happen, will happen".

Mirikar was aware of Sai Baba's words, that they never came out without a meaning, so he changed his mind and asked Shama to accompany him. Shama again took the permission from Sai Baba for the same.

Chitali was a small town and did not have any accommodation for visitors. The office people had not come, so they arranged for rest in a Maruti(Lord Hanuman) Temple. People use a long cloth called Khes with their attire in those days. Which was of many uses apart from the good appearance it gave. Mirikar was sitting with one end of his Khes on his waist and the other lying on the floor. He was busy reading newspaper when a snake crawled and sat on the Khes, the snake was too close to the body and Mirikar unaware relaxed as he read newspaper.

The experienced ears of the person guarding the temple, herd the noise created while the snake might have moved over a paper on the floor. He was convinced that a snake was in the temple. He moved in the temple with a lantern. Everybody were frightened with what they saw. The snake was sitting so close to the Mirikar that slight movement would cause and immediate attack from the poisonous snake. Somehow disturbed with the movements elsewhere in the temple, the snake quietly left the place and Mirikar was left unharmed.

Saibaba - A yogi and Onion

Last post about Kusha Bhav had and incident of onion, also the parable of Sai Baba contained the subject of onion. This story is also described in Chapter number 23 in the sacred text Shri Sai SatCharitra.

In Gujarati book Sai Sarovar, there is a description of this story in a little detail.
Talking about Sai Sarovar book, the book is very difficult to get as it is out of print. The family of the author Shri Maganlal Tapidas Germanwala is quite poor. Few meetings have been done with the son and family members of the author and we have advised them not to sell of the copyrights which have been asked by a couple of publisher but retain them and we will try to help in every manner we can. By the grace of Sai Baba the work is going on and shortly the Gujarati version will be in print and available in the market.

The post written by me from this book are not exact translation.

Since this book has many unpublished incidents that happened when Sai Baba was physically present in Shirdi, the devotees and readers will like to read them. Posts from this book are written for this blog and scheduled to appear online every morning.

A yogi named Premanand was dedicated to practicing of yoga. Yoga not in the sense it is marketed these days for fitness and better health. They are just a by products of yoga, today the by products have assumed more importance in human lives and the marketers take advantage of it. The real meaning of yoga is melting and merging in the Divine.

Premanand practiced yoga for the real purpose and found difficulties for the goal. Some one advised him to visit Shirdi and meet Sai Baba, who was one with ParaBrahma (Supreme soul) and that He would be the right person to guide him.

Listening to them the practitioner of yoga visited Shirdi. When he came near Dwarkamai, he saw Sai Baba sitting with devotees and eating. He noticed that Sai Baba took bites of onions with the food. Onions were favorite with Sai Baba. The yogi's mind immediately rebelled against this. He knew that the yogis have to stay away from the onions due to it tamasic properties. He was still a little far away from Sai Baba. Sai Baba did not want him to leave like that, and since he knew everything and every person's thoughts, he spoke out loudly.

'Onions should be eaten by the ones who can digest them, to those the tamasic properties cannot influence. For those getting influenced by the tamasic properties should not eat them, that is also true.'

This words and the Divine attraction of Sai Baba removed the doubts of the yogi. He remained in Shirdi for a long time and benefited beyond his expectations.

Sai Baba blesiing Kusha Bhav with special powers

Sai Baba's leelas with Kushabhav contnues.

Kusha bhav's spiritual journey thus started with Sai Baba in Shirdi. He was strict in following certain religious rules. Every Thursday he used to eat just once. On purnima (full moon day) he would not eat unless having the darshan of the moon. On agyarash he would eat just the fruits.

Kusha bhav had leaved the occult powers as directed by Sai Baba, but he was blessed with a special power that of producing sacred Udi of Dhuni of Dwarkamai, from his bare hands just by remembering Sai Baba's name and raising his palms upwards. This happened on a Ekadasi day.

Once on Ekadashi day Kusha bhav was sitting by the side of Sai Baba.

Sai Baba, 'What would you eat today afternoon?'

Kusha, ' Baba today is Ekadashi so I am on Upavas (fast) today.'

Sai Baba, 'Do you know the meaning of Upavas?

Kusha, 'Ekadashi vratt means spending eating only the kandmul (plant roots eaten as vegetables or food).

Sai Baba, 'What does dandmul means?'

Khusha, 'Kandmul means potatoes, sweet potatoes, groundnuts, etc...'

Saibaba, 'Are onions not the kandmul too?, are they not the produce of God?

Listening to this Shama, the simple hearted and a close devotee of Sai Baba feigned enrage (only this simple hearted devotee dared do this and Sai Baba loved him) and with surprised look on his face spoke in a loud voice, 'Deva! what kind of double sided talks are you giving? One one hand you direct devotees to do the vratta of Ekadashi on the other hand you ask to eat onions on the same day. Please tell us exactly if onion can be eaten on Ekadashi or not.'

Sai Baba lovingly said, 'In this Dwarkamai of Majid I don't speak untruth. Both the facts are true. One should not eat onions on Ekadashi day that is true. But who wants to eat it should eat is whole, after eating the onion one should have the shakti (power) to digest and bear it. After eating the onion one should get under the tamasic effect of it. One who has sayam and has victory over tamasic qualities like anger can eat it.'

Saying so Sai Baba took some onions and gave them to Kusha bhav for eating them.

Kusha Bhav, ' Baba if you eat it first, I shall surely eat the onion.'

Sai Baba ate one onion seeing this Kusha bhav ate one.

Sai Baba then clapped his hands and began to make fun of Kusha bhav. He said, 'Look this brahmaniya (slang form of Brahmin). Kusha bhav in the defense began to say that he ate it only after Sai Baba ate. To this Sai Baba by said that He had not eaten the onions. Saying so He vomited, it was seen that Sai Baba has miraculously produced sweet potatoes from His mouth.

Kusha Bhav pounced at the vomit and ate it. Looking at this Sai Baba got enraged and abused him and beat him. 'Kusha Bhav in is interview in the book 'The Immortal Fakir of Shirdi' says " I did not mind all in the least, as I was overjoyed at having got His uchchishta as prasad. I knew also that as with Akkalkot Maharaj, so with Sai Baba, His beating and abuse were auspicious and beneficial. If Sai Baba kissed a man and send him off, as He did sometimes, that was not auspicious.

Sai Baba's rage cooled down soon. He became calm blessed Kusha Bhav by lovingly putting His hand on Kusha Bhav and he will have now power by putting his palms raised and remember Him, and the sacred udi will flows through his arms.

Kushabhav in Shirdi

This is in the continuation of the last post about Kushabhav's stories with Sai Baba in Shirdi.

Kusha spent three days in Shirdi, on the fourth day he asked the permission from Sai Baba to return to Miraj. Sadguru Sai Baba replied that He had not pulled him from Miraj for nothing.

Saibaba asked him to sit in a corner and with simple and loving words told him that the occult powers like maran, uchatan and vashikaran would not take him on elevated spiritual states. His display of occult powers was like the prostitutes who display their body parts to attract lowly lusty feelings of the man. Saying this Sai Baba raised his foot and showed a painful growth under His feet. He gave a mystical statement and told that the painful growth under his feet has aggravated. He wanted that to be removed, but it will be removed once He returns to His village, 'This I Know'. Sai Baba continued, 'More than My body I protects my devotees, people harass Me, they don’t let me rest, but there is no remedy for the same.'

Sai Baba advised Kushabhav to remove the iron bracelet charged with occult powers and asked him to read and do parayan of Guru Leelamrit. Saibaba said, ‘Prayan of the sacred text, is what will come to his rescue in the end.

Kusha bhav readily followed the instruction of Sai Baba and removed and threw away the bracelet charged with the occult powers.

Some mystical words then slept out of the holy mouth of Sai Baba. He Said, ‘Thousands of years ago, I was here. This world is a merriment, for Me everybody is the same, but some has became the thieves, what should I do with that? The ones who are themselves standing on the death’s shore, they are wishing other’s death, preparing for other’s death, this enrages Me, dong thus these people hurt my emotions, yet I speak nothing, I sit silently, Ultimately God is great, God’s officers are everywhere, God is the most powerful, so Humans should accept the situations that God brings.”

After a brief pause Sai Baba said, “ I am very powerful, eight to ten thousand years ago I was present here.”

Sai Baba’s words were short meaningful but requires deep insight to understand them. Many a times these words were addressed to someone present around and give a message to him or her.

Couple of devotees experiences

A couple of experience i received from Sai Devotees.

Few Days after I landed in USA first time (JAN 2000) I moved from New York to Miami, FL (Florida) in search of job. From Miami airport I took a CAB (Taxi) to reach one of my friends house for a temporary accommodation, After reaching my friends house I was off the cab after taking my luggage except one hand bag where I used to keep all my certificates/passport/visa/INS related docs + $1000,after the CAB has left I realized my hand bag was missing. I was shocked after knowing this bcoz all my career related docs within that bag. Miami was a high rated crime area it is very tough to get back any thing if you loose some thing in the public.
People surrounding me already lost hopes getting the bag back since it has $1000 cash. I called airport authorities they said they don't keep the records of CABS, I was totally blind and don't know what to do, then I begged our Sai Sadguru asking "BABA you said you live in every creature, please, help to get my bag back by influencing the CAB driver".
A BIG MIRACLE HAPPENED ,by evening I got a call from the CAB driver, I was surprised how did he managed to get my phone number(my friends house in Miami) where he dropped me at,.CAB driver told me that he saw the cash and certificates within the bag and he wants to return it back as it is, Next morning He returned the bag with Cash, while returning the bag I asked him how did he managed to get my present Phone number, he told while checking the bag for my address he found the phone number of one of my friend in New York (where I came from),so he called my friend in New York and took my phone number at Miami and then called me directly. My friends with me were very much surprised for this incident since returning the lost items (with Cash) from a CAB driver in Miami Area is quite unusual.
So Saibandu's BABA lives in all creatures, it's true, if you call him from bottom of your heart he can influence any one on this universe. [:)], He's the only ultimate rescuer for all us,his mercy on us is immense

Sai Vishnu

i want to send one more miraculous experience of mine,

My experience goes like this

We were returning back from a trip to guruvayur. We were 2 families’ three children and four adults in our Scorpio jeep.

We stopped for lunch at around 3 pm. after that we started of towards Bangalore, as we were going my husband was driving he noticed that the tar on the road was unevenly put, so to keep the vehicle on track he adjusted the steering and his hand sleep within seconds the vehicle went and hit the bus coming from the opposite side my husband action was so perfect that the jeep went and hit the back of the bus. all of us were so scared that we did not know what was happening. though i was full of fear seeing my husband in that situation i went on telling him that everything will be fine. Vehicle on the right side in the front was damaged but you wont believed no one was hurt, only my husbands cousins son had small scratch on his cheeks. That is it.

Some of the people helped us on the way and we reached near salem . Left the vehicle at a workshop. The workshop owner helped us in arranging a taxi and we returned home safely.

Sai you saved us .Sai you are so great that you help your devotee out from the clutches of death. Sai i know you love me so much that you help me in all areas of my life. i love Sai, i love you so much. please tell me how i make you happy too.

Shirdi Baba's Miracles - Devotees Experiences

Jay Sainath,

Miracles happened around Sai Baba when He was seen in physical body in Shirdi. Those miracles happened with ease with Sai Baba. Sai Baba would tell anybodies life incidents as they approached Him, with more ease than we read newspapers, books or watch a tv. Devotee's problems were foreseen and were given hints for the same and assurance for saving them from the same, which happened.

To many devotees Sai Baba would appear in dreams and guide them, bless them, give them assurance and remove their immediate anxieties.

Prayers and His remembrance would result in immediate help from Him.

Stubborn diseases which refused to go with many tried remedies, medicines and surgeries would leave just by His glance on the one who suffered, or Sai Baba moving His holy hands on the affected part, applying and or sacred Udi. Not only that in many cases the stubborn disease had to leave when devotees or their relatives prayed and remembered Sai Baba.

After Sai Baba left His physical bodies all these miracles did not cease with the passing of time, in fact they increased. More and more devotees, non devotees and even those who had never heard of Sai Baba and seen His picture has been getting the divine and caring help from Him.

The love, the care of Sai Baba moves with great throttle. Many books have been written on the same. This blog is a result of the same and is getting experiences from devotees all around the world. Last few posts were dedicated to the same and one more experience from Sai Bhakts.

Hello alpesh,
Thank you for letting this service. I would like to share my experience with all sai devotees.
This is an experience which has made me to believe in Shiridi Sai Baba more than ever...
We are living abroad . Unfortunately my father had a heart attack and was admitted to the
hospital. He had a surgery done and the doctors said that they need to perform another surgery as well. Unfortunately the insurance company said that it will not cover any costs of this, and we were not well settled yet for us to bear all the expenses and especially being abroad.

Father was in ICU for 2 weeks and doctors said that his condition is very serious.. All our family prayed to Shiridi Sai Baba and have done his parayana.

We read Mritunjaya mantra more than 108 times. Father got better to the surprise of the Doctors. They said it was really a miracle as they were not sure whether he can be fine earlier..

Sai Baba has blessed our father with life again. He has shown again that He is there for the people who look up to him. The financial aspect we were not able to bear it, but we knew that Baba is there for us and he will help us..and He did.. It was another miracle of Sai Baba..Hospital did not asked us to pay the expenses incurred, who were very much behind us for payment at first... .after we explained them about our financial situation once again.

I would say it is just the Blessing and one the miracles of Shiridi Sai Baba who has helped and will help us all in every way possible. I would not say it all happened overnight.. we did suffer for a period ..But We had faith and patience (shradha and saburi) towards Baba.. and it was true at times we were so broken that we almost questioned him for not answering our prayers as our father was not recovering..But He did answer our prayers..and all he asked was a little bit of patience..and he had shown his miracle.. and no matter how much thanks we say to Sai Baba I would say it is still less..
Thank you once again for this service as I was able to share my experience with other Sai Bakth. and would want to say again that Sai Baba is there with us and looking after us.
Thank you Sai..
Regards
Sai Bakth.

Sai SatCharitra and Saibaba experiences - Meena

Aum Sai Ram,

Yet another mail from a devotee of her experiences with the pothi ( sacred text ) Shri Sai SatCharitra and Sai Baba of Shirdi.

my experience with baba goes like this.

i am actually a very anxious person. i worry for all the things.

3 years ago my son had to go to London to study his special effects for animation.he was going to a place were i have no friends or relatives. i got worried and my anxiety level increased that is when a Christian lady near my house asked me to read Sai Satcharitha.i started reading it .gradually everything fell into place. Sai took care of my son so well that i never had to worry a bit. he was very successful in his studies there and came back to India safely.

my second son wanted to do his sound engineering in Mumbai.though we had a branch of that college in Bangalore he wanted to do in Mumbai only.so now you can imagine my situation.i used to cry day and night getting worried how a 17year old will stay alone in a new city like Mumbai. i went into depression.my mind was completely blocked. i was confused and angry with god that why he was testing me in all these ways.again started praying to Sai.then a miracle happened. my husband came home from work and said that one of his friend is shifting to Mumbai and since he is alone he will take care of our son.and that is it my belief in Sai became fixed. now my elder son is in singapore and he believes in Sai very much. my son who was studying in Mumbai got a placement there and is doing good.i have a school going daughter who loves Sai very much. even now when i miss my sons she consoles me saying that sai will take care of all the problems just trust him.

so my dearest Sai i am thankful to you for being with me always please don't leave my side.protect my children and show them the right path.

Devotees experiences - Kanika Gupta

Aum Sai Ram,

These days devotee's experiences are dropping in. Another wonderful experience of a devotee to whom Sai Baba appeared in the dreams twice.

Another experience was posted in comments of the post named have faith and complete surrenderence and yet one more on my experiences with Shirdi Sai Baba. All these three submissions in span of two days.

Below is the experience submitted by Sai devotee Kanika Gupta, which i received at alpesh at saimail dot com.

Om Sai Ram

I am a non medical student and i have just appeared for my board exams and still appearing for my entrance tests.

experience

I started believing in Sai Baba around in September 2007 . Since then He has always been with me in my every task..

In around September - October 2007,I dreamed of Sai Baba .As I am science student so I was very much worried about my studies and my future. He in my dream ,was passing by my house when I saw Him and stopped Him. nd then called my mother .She talked to him in the dream . I invited Him home but Sai Baba refused to come ,I begged Him then He called my mother and told her the reason of His refusal .She agreed to Him and then I said "Baba please give me something" Then He gave me a book which was wrapped in a printed paper and a comb too. hen Hw just went away. his was my first dream regarding Sai Baba. Ever since i started worshipping Him .hen my mother discussed it with pujariji and he told her that Sai Baba had given the gift of knowledge and success.

econd dream I saw was that,e was again passing by my homeand He came upto my house's gate, and He had put red tikka all over my forehead .In the morning , then when I went to the temle the Pujari gave me the red holy color and said that this is very sacred and whenever you go out for some good work just apply this Tikka.

I am very scared of Chemistry .When it was my preboared exams I was very much frightened .I cried whole night. My mother went to the temple in the mornig and there Pujariji gave her a pen wothout asking for it and it was a single pen just kept for me. No other pens were kept there for any kind of distribution. My mother gave that pen to me. I gave my exam with that pen and scored wonderfully well.

Now have my another exam coming up....... If i clear this exam it would be all by Sai Baba's grace.

Other two experiences i am copy pasting here from the comments of above mentioned articles below.

Hi Alpesh,

I am a regular visitor of your website and would like to thank for providing us an opportunity to all sai devotees to share their divine experiences with us.

I would also like to share my recent sai experience and would like to share with all the sai family.

My Sister's daughter who is just 5 yr old has fallen down from the cot and blood was oozing from the nose . All of us were really worried and she was crying literally. I did not understand what to do hence i prayed baba that she should have not met with any facture in her nose and blood should stop oozing from her bose and recover fast . I was just consoling her to stop her crying . But the situation remained the same finally i decided to apply Babas udi but could not found at home hence i prayed baba and took the regular vibuthi and applied on her head and put little of vibuthi inside her mouth . Within few seconds she was relaxed and felt asleep . The next day she woke up with a great and pleasant smile .

Thanks to BABA and request BABA to Shower his love and affection now and always on US.

Jai Sai Ram

my experience with saibaba:
I have to agree with everyone that saibaba fullfills even our small wishes. the reason i am writing my experience today is, i prayed saibaba that i want to pass my exam, if i did i will post this miracle on this website. It is a miracle for me to pass the exam because 95% of the students in this class failed, only few of us passed this exam, and i am one of them. my marks were failing marks too, but with saibaba's grace i passed this course. whenever i fear of something, desperately want something, i pray to saibaba and he is always there for me. I even doubted him many times. today i started my parayanam and i can feel him around me. My only comment for everyone is, don't loose hope, whatever happens, saiababa will take care of you.

om sri sai deva guru deva datta

Thanks a lot to all these devotees for sharing the experiences of Sai Baba's divine love, care and grace with all other devotees.

Devotees Experiences With Shirdi Sai Baba - Prasanna

One more mail received for posting on blog of, how Sai Baba responds and is always there for devotees on many difficult situations.

Below is the message i received.

Dear Alpeshji,

I regularly read your website and find lot of useful info. Thanks for this
wonderful site and BABA would definitely shower His blessings to you.

I've been a staunch devotee of Baba for the past 15 years and I owe
everything to Baba and all is due to HIS blessings.Baba had shown
innumerable miracles in my life and always gives me a feeling that HE is
always with me.I sincerely pray to HIM that HE should hold my hand always in
this birth and all upcoming births and help me in reaching HIM.I'm posting
some of very significant ones,

Request you to post these to the website. All these incidents prove that if
we surrender ourselves to HIM and pray for solutions instead of brooding
over problems,HE will definitely show the way.HE always says'U look to me,I
look to you'

* Even after 5 years of marriage,I was issueless. We had consulted many
doctors and most of them said that the chances of getting a kid is very
less or almost nil.We were very worried for almost 1 and half year.I prayed
to BABA in all possible ways and I thought that he is testing our patience.I
had left the decision to HIM.I was mentally prepared and decided that we
would either adopt a kid or leave the matter there itself.
See the miracle now .On Dec 25th 2000,I along with my
in-laws,sister-in-law and my husband visited Mylapore Saibaba temple during
evening around 7:00 PM as we were in Chennai at that time.We had darshan
and came out. Then my husband recollected that the car keys were inside the
car which never happened. With the help of Ayyappa swamy devotees, they were
trying to pull the glass doors down and all these were happening till 9:00
PM.On my mother-in-law's suggestion, myself and sis-in-law went to the temple
again to pray to Baba.As it was closing time,we went and quickly were
returning back. The poojari called me and offered me a glass of milk (which
was offered to Baba earlier) for drinking.I was really surprised as this is
a very, very rare oppurtunity and felt as if it is a blessing. The car doors
got opened and we returned back safely. On Dec 31st,we went to another
Saibaba temple at Injambakam which is on seashore.Following that week,it was
confirmed that I had conceived.

By HIS blessings,I delivered a baby girl and she's 7 years old now doing
well.Nothing is possible for HIM .Have immense faith and patience.HE will
surely help.

* My father had a heart problem with an enlarged heart and so he
wanted to arrange my marriage quickly,By HIS grace, the marriage got fixed
but there were financial problems as the money that was expected didn't get
arranged. The marriage was fast approaching and everyone was tensed at home.I
prayed to BABA and did read SAI SATCHARITRA and completed in 7days.See the
miracle that happened on 7th day of completion. Our distance relatives who
happened to be my mother's colleague as well came in a taxi on Thursday
morning and gave us the required money. We were very surprised. They said that
they came to know about the problem and so they travelled around 5 hours and
came personally to the home for giving the money.

It is simply out of imagination that can ever such things can happen.Yes,it
is possible only by HIS grace.

After 3 years of my marriage,my father fell seriously ill and was
admitted into hospital.I flew from Chennai praying to Baba.3 heart valves
out of 4 are spoiled and doctor said that his chances of survival are almost
nil.We were praying to Baba requesting him to take care of
him.Miraculously,he started recovering after 3rd day and then onwards he
survived another 2 years.During these 2 years,Baba had given him an
oppurtunity to serve him.HE took care of all his debts, freed from financial
debts and then also, provided him a small job as my brother was doing his
post-graduation.My father used to give SEJ Arati almost everyday these 2
years.

To my knowledge,he had two desires - my brother's PG completion and wanted
to become a grandfather.

My brother successfully completed M.Sc with first division and I had a baby
girl around the same time.My father was so excited and had a silent heart
attack on 5th day of my delivery.

I was crying in front of BABA where my father's body was laid down in our
house. When I was staring at BABA,the face in the photo had enlarged so big
and HIS face was so shiny like gold with full of happiness. It seems as if HE
is trying to convey that my father was with him and hence consoled me.

Only with HIS help,I was able to come out of this.

* I was praying for my brother's job and marriage as my mother is
alone.By HIS grace ,he got a job and also married recently. When we returned
from marriage and opened the door,we could feel sambrani(vibhoodi) smell in
the house indicating HIS presence. This experience was truly unforgettable.

* Recently my husband got a very good new assignment in Mumbai which
is again by HIS grace. We will be moving there shortly. Before taking
decision,I requested BABA to confirm if this decision is good.I visit a BABA
temple very often. In this temple, there will be a blackboard where BABA' s
sayings are written every week. When I've asked HIM to confirm and came out
of temple,I saw the below lines on the board which made me very happy and
got HIS confirmation
"You visit any place in this world even beyond the seven seas,I'm always
with you"

Once I felt very worried very much about the fact whether I would be able
to serve him in future births, whether I would get HIS grace. On that day,the
below lines were written on the blackboard which again had relieved my worry

"I would never leave anyone in between.I would guide them until they reach
the destination(BABA)"

Like this, the list continues .I sincerely thank to BABA from bottom of my
heart and wish to occupy a place in HIS DARBAR.

JAI SAI RAM

Devotees experiences with Shirdi Sai Baba - Arpana P

Om Sai Ram,

I received a wonderful experience of a Sai Baba devote regarding the Faith and prayers to Saibaba and also about reading the Sai Satcharitra and getting a wonderful response. Below is the message from the Babaji's devotee.

Hi Alpesh,

I am a frequent visitor of your blog. and to be honest, i like all the contents regarding Babaji in it.
Seriously, you are doing a wonderful job.

The main reason behind me writing this mail is that, i had promised Baba that i would share my experience with everyone.

I hope you will not disappoint me..

This is my story...

I had not known much about Shirdi Sai Baba ji before. After i came to Bangalore in 2004, i got a chance to visit Sai Temple @ Malleshwaram.
Its since then, that i got this wonderful experience of Sai Babajis grace.

I was seriously in love with my classmate(in engineering college) and we had thought of getting married once we settle down in life.

Both of us were from different community. I was south indian (GSB -Konkani) and he was north Indian.

We told about our affair to our respective parents and asked their permission for the same.

His parents did not have much problem, but my parents didn't want me to marry a guy outside our community.

i kept on praying to Baba to set everything allrite.

Finally both the parents agreed and decided to meet. When my parents met his parents, they did not like them as they were delaying the marriage date and process.

again i prayed to Baba ..i had complete faith on him and tried my best to convience my parents.

Later my parents agreed. but his parents wanted my parents to goto Patna and then speak about the proceedings..

My parents left for Patna.. i had to loan a lot of amount to send them to Patna..

I was very nervous and was expecting a good news from my parents..

But the fate wanted something else, my parents called me up from Patna and said that they did not like the guys family as they were too demanding..

I felt very bad.. i cried a lot.. even the astrologers had told that this marriage would not happen.
i sat in front of Baba for long and prayed to him to do some miracle and made a Sankalp to read Sai Satcharitra in 7 days.

Many things were going-on in the background. Finally it was found that there was a mis-communication that had occurred and there was some misunderstanding.

within the 7th day of my reading Sai Satcharitra i got good news that my parents have agreed and my marriage date was fixed.

due to Saibabas grace all the marriage ceremony went well.

I had prayed to Saibaba and had invited Babaji to my wedding.. i was waiting for him to arrive in any form.. and suddenly i got a message with had Saibaba's picture in it ..that gave me a hint that Saibaba is with me in Patna and has come to attend my marriage.

Today i am married to my love because of my dearest Saibaba..

2. I would also like to share one more experience of mine,..Whenever i prayed to Lord Saibaba, i request him to always with me.. since then till dare i have never found me alone, i have always Saibabaji in any form...

Reegrds,

Arpana P

Have Faith and complete surrenderance

I received the following quote from Meher Baba, from a Sai Baba devotee.

* To the struggling, failing and faltering humanity I say, "Have faith." Turn to God in complete surrenderance and receive the Divine love. You are equally a part of the one indivisible Divine life. There is not a single atom that does not vibrate with this divine life.

There is no need for anyone to despair. The greatest of sinners as well as the greatest of saints has the same unfailing Divine assurance. Meher Baba

This quote was meant for the short stories blog, to write a story on this theme. Since the quote is on Faith, naturally i was drawn to write stories related to Sai Baba for this word, the story came to my mind was of Kakasaheb Dixit. His great faith and and surrender towards Sai Baba. Kakasaheb Dixitji's story in sacred book Shri Sai SatCharitra Chapter 23, was mentioned with a story of lord Krishna on Divinity and ego.

i felt the story would be more appropriate on this blog rather than the short stories blog.

Kakasaheb Dixit was wealthy and affluent man. He had suffered injuries in an accident in London, from which he recovered but there remained a lameness in his leg. He was a friend of Nanasaheb Chandorkar. Nanasaheb in his talks with Dixitji talked a length about Sai Baba with him, and asked him to visit Shirdi, and a cure for his lame leg would happen as many such diseases and physical ailments where cured by Sai Baba. Kakasaheb Dixit a man of wisdom replied that he was more interested in curing of lameness of mind, rather than lameness of his legs.

Kakasaheb's visit to Shirdi and meeting with Sai Baba was a great one. He was welcomed by Saibaba with the words ' I was waiting for you'. According to Kakasaheb's wish the lameness of his leg remained but much happened with the divine love and grace of Sai Baba for the removal of lameness of his mind. Saibaba used to call many of his devotees with a nick name, with meaning. He used to call Kakasaheb as Langda Kaka (Lame uncle), indicating that the lameness of the leg will remain.

Kakasaheb's faith and surrender was total. One story described in Shri Sai SatCharitra chapter 23 given is a classic example of his faith and surrender. Kakasaheb also left his job and built a wada ( a building for free accommodation for devotees visiting Shirdi) . Another incident indicating his total surrender was that Kakasaheb once gave away one thousand silver coins in a trunk to Sai Baba, Sai Baba asked him to keep the same, saying that it would be of use in the future. This time Kakasaheb did not listen to Sai Baba and stuck to his decision. Sai Baba agreed and opened up the trunk, took handfuls of coins from the trunk and gave them away to the people and devotees present in Masjid.

It is reported that there was no change on Kakasaheb Dixit's face on seeing this incident of his hard earned savings getting distributed within seconds.

There are many incidents of Kakasaheb Dixit which will be posted in future on this website / blog.

Sai Baba assured Kakasaheb Dixit that he would be taken in Viman (Airplane) by Him, a symbol of taking his soul with him. It happened, Kakasaheb left his body, while traveling in a train, talking about SaiBaba (mind on Sai Baba) with shri Dabholkar, and left his body while doing so and siting. This kind of leaving the body is rarity, people are either sick and lying on the bed, suffering while the body is being left. Talking about Sai Baba, in a sitting position and leaving the body without a trace of pain, shows the immense love of Sai Baba towards him.

Devotees experiences - Tinu Sharma

Jai Sai Nath,
i would like to share my experience with all of the Sai devotees. it so happened that my mom had some health problem and so my parents decided to go to Shirdi. They planned to go on 17th April 2008 by Jhelum Express., which departs from Ambala at morning 6-10 am and arrives at Kopergaon at 9-15 am the other day. in this way they thought to spend the entire day at Shirdi and return back the same night by the same train which departs from kopergaon at 10-15 pm night and therefore they went for booking their tickets . Surprisingly they cud not get the tickets of returning from the same train ,therefore they had to get the tickets for another train which departs from manmad at morning 4-10 am. My parents were little sad about this but they consoled themselves by saying that its Baba's will. Now what was Baba's will would u like u to know.here it is.
It so happened that while going to sShirdi after Bhopal there was an accident of trains on the track and therefore the train in which my parents were traveling had to be taken thru nagpur which reached kopergaon in the evening 6-00 pm. so now isn't it clear that when one wwho will arrive at 6-00pm at kopergaon how can he take the train for returning at 10-pm that is just four hour later. this shows that Baba knows everything and he takes care of each and every minute of his devotees . He is the supreme power.Thank u Sai Baba i love You very much please come to me soon. i'm waiting for You .

Occult and psychic powers a great hindrance

Kusha Bhav was the name given to Krishnaji Kasintah Joshi, by Sai Baba, who used to address many of his devotees with a name that had some meaning with that particular devotee.

In the book the immortal Fakir of Shirdi, an interview with Kusha Bhav is given. In the interview first two pages Kusha Bhav talks about himself of how he was born in a poor family and was drawn to spirituality.

He worked under a Guru named Datta Maharaj and learned Yogic Asanas, pranayama and rousing of Kundalini Shakti. Being young and motivated by the societal madness to accumulate power, he was not satisfied with what he was learning and coaxed his guru to impart him occult and psychic powers, through mantras.

His guru showed him the way for it reluctantly, Kusha Bhav wore and iron bangle and repeated the mantras meant to attain occult powers and succeeded. One of the powers he had was to repeat a mantra and produce a desire object like pedha (milk sweetmeat). These articles thus produced could not be used by him and had to give them away to the people asking for the same and getting amused by those little powers.

By the young age of 22 years he was armed with this magical powers. This time his guru decided to leave for the Himalayas and spend the rest of his life there. He was taken up to Delhi and then guru parted his company telling him that there was one Sai Baba of Shirdi, to whom he (Kusha's guru) referred as his elder brother, Kusha Bhav should go to him and do as directed.

In 1908 A.D. this led Kusha Bhav to Shirdi. He said that Sai Baba would not allow him to be with Him, until he broke the iron bangle charged with occult power and stop the article production in bare hands to amuse and some level admiration of the people. He did so and had beg in Shirdi for sustainment. Sai Baba later blessed him with the powers to produce sacred Udi from his bare arm after an interesting incident. Kusha Bhav demonstrated this powers by producing udi from his bare palms and giving it to I.B.V.N Swami and Mr. Avasthi, who were interviewing him.

Sai Baba asked him to sit in a corner of the Masjid and read Dasabodha during the day, which he did. Kusha says that those were the days when the crowds from Bombay (Mumbai) and other places were not visiting Shirdi. Sai Baba used to be approached by villagers for the remedies of trifling complaints like stomach ache, headaches and fever, for which Sai Baba used to give them Udi from the ever burning Dhuni in Masjid.

In Sai Sarovar book the discription of Kusha Bhav is little different and i will write it as it describes the daily activities that happened in Shirdi.

It says that early in the morning he would take darshan of morning Kakad Arati, soon after Kakasaheb dixit would read spiritual books like Panchdasi. As the reading gets over Sai Baba would on the way to lendi baugh people and devotees would wait to have Sai Baba's darshan on the way to Lendi Baug.

After one and a half hour when Sai Baba's returned from Lendi Baugh, devotees would be waiting with puja thals according to their wishes, waiting to perform Puja of Sai Baba. Mahalsapati would perform the puja first and then other devotees followed. After which Sai Baba would apply sacred Udi on each devotee's head and asked them to go to their respective places and eat their lunch.

To be continued ...........

Since Sai Baba fulfills our desires He is so popular and praised among the devotees. First step to become Sai Baba's devotee is getting a desire fulfilled, or praying to Sai Baba or doing a vratta in the name of Holy Sai Baba and get out of a difficult and distracting situation.

Saibaba always used to say that , "I give people what they want so that I can give what I want to give them."

This statement has been repeated on this blog few times, and i remember a comment on a social sharing site that ' i wonder what he(Shri Sai Baba) wants to give?'

What Saibaba wants to give is a spiritual urge and interest in spiritual matters tat will lead the devotees to the spiritual progress, untill they melt and merge into the divine one. 'Be one with Me' Sai Baba used to say. Being one with Sai Baba is melting and merging in the divine reality.

Many would term that as spiritual attainment or divine attainment. That is the language of our ego or our wrong self, which is always after attaining something. It wants to attain power, it wants to attain security, it wants to attain peace. It even wants to attain divinity, which is impossible.

How can a small self always getting disturbed with petty things, it can get disturb with a single statement from somebody attain the greatest, "Divinity".?

But that is the wa our self works. Being petty it asks and thinks petty (little).

One petty desire is fulfilled, it asks for another, and this continues until one realizes that, what is important is not the fulfillment of desires but ending of desire itself.

When the petty self gets attacked by fear due to some insecurity, it goes to Sai Baba and most probably tells Sai Baba the solution of the problem. Baba if this thing happens, I will do this or that. And keep praying and remembering Sai Baba until that happens, get relived. The intensity of prayers and remembrance of Sai Baba or God or Divine reduces until another insecurity strikes and the petty self trembles from fear.

While asking and suggesting the solution to SaiBaba it forgets, that the solution is coming out of the petty self, and so has to be petty and temporary.

Why can't the mind say 'O Sai Baba i am in trouble, or my system is attacked by fear, please remove the fear, rather than giving Him the solution? Why can't it be humble enough in front of Sai Baba? That you have the solution and i cannot show you the solution to the problem. Most of the time we put more weight on our solutions rather than asking for His solution. Result! Sometimes when our solution does not happen, the self gets more stressed and goes to the point to even abuse the merciful Baba or saying that Sai Baba does not care (the saddest part). This result has nothing do with Sai Baba or the Divine, but for the love of the soution our petty self has created, which has to be petty,

The love of te petty self, which has the habit of going down due to petty reasons rules over the Divine. The result?

Would not it be better if we let the Divine will work on us and forget our self's will? Surrender to the Divine will, put more stress on Divine words fallen from Sai Baba's mouth like remembering God or Allah always. Reading holy scriptures and Sri Sai SatCharitra. Considering the Divine love over everything, everything our petty mind can produce as a solution to the so called Happy living.

The real solution comes when the Divine Love and Divine energy fills the self or erase the self, removes the insecurity and wants. The self that was insecure, always looking for this and that, thinking it would satisfy the needs, is lost! and only Divinity persists.

So rather than giving a solution to Sai Baba, why not say Baba i am troubled with a problem, i surrender the problem to you, i surrender the petty self to you and you fill it with Your Divine love, Your Divine protection, Your Divine devotion, and Your Divine Shakti (energy).

Bolo SatChit Anand SadGuru Shri SaiNath Maharaj Ki Jai!

Last Hanuman Jayanti April 19-20 my mom sat to recite 108 Hanman Chalisa in front of a Havan at my home. I was also pulled by the Havan and took Sai Baba picture and some dhoop of Loban and meditated on Sai Baba's picture along with the sacred energy from the scarf on the head and chanting of Sai Baba's mantras. Suddenly had an urge of writing took pen and a notebook and the above article happened. Today Thursday i copied and typed the same after praying to Baba to fill this article with His Divine Love and Grace.

Some facts about Sai Baba's Picture in Dwarikamai

Aum Sai Ram,
A posting was done on Hetal's blog about the picture of Sai Baba in Dwarkamai. An ardent devotee of SaiBaba, who also attends Aratis, puja, Sai SatCharitra parayan and other spiritual events at Shri Kakasaheb Dixit's residence wrote a detailed history of the picture or portrait of Sai Baba at my email id. I am posting it so that the devotees come to know the detais of the same.

Sairam,

This is refference to your post Dwarkamai Photo History.

as per my knowledge the painting which is in Dwarakami is not the original it is a replica of the original which is kept in Dixit wada the present day museum & even d one in museum is not the original for which Sai Baba posed …. The one for which Sai Baba had posed was in shri moreshwar pradhan's familly & in 1970's by Sai baba's orders the same was given to Dixitji (grandson of kakashaeb dixit) ….this original painting is now in Dixitji's house …the one in Shirdi was later on painted by Jaikarji by his imagination in his studio… if u see the original, the one at Dixitji's residence Sai Baba is seems to be happy with a faint smile on his face …. & the one in Shirdi Sai Baba seems to be a little in pensive mood ..also in dthe original one has panch aarti, 5 fruits & baskets kept next to baba …the one in Shirdi has 1 aarti & coconut only…

In his life time Sai Baba had posed for only 3 paintings …out of which Two are at Dixitji's residence ….all 3 were painted by Jaikar saheb. It was shri moreshwar pradhan's desire to have a life like painting of Saibaba with him so he requested Shaymrao Jaikar saheb to come with him to Shirdi & paint the same.... but Jaikar saheb was reluctant to go as he thought what would he get by painting a portrait of a poor fakir like Sai Baba ...on their arrival at Shirdi Saibaba's permission had to be obtained for painting his portrait so they requested Saibaba for the same... but Saibaba knowing jaikar saheb's inner thoughts declined the same... then on Shama's intervention Saibaba replied " Why should I a poor fakir have an oil painting of me? U Shama may get a portrait of youself done" ... but as Sai Baba could never say no to Shama he gave permission for the same ....Baba said instead of painting 1 picture paint 3 & hence Jaikar saheb carried on the orders given by Sai Baba... after the paintings were done Pradhan Saheb asked SAi Baba, what is to be done with the paintings.... Saibaba asked him to retain 2 & give 1 to Kakasaheb Dixit after blessing it himself... This picture is now kept in Puja ghar of Kakasheb and is there since 1913. ... after Mr. Pradhan's demsie his family did not take good care of these portraits...& were not kept in good condition ...in 1970 Sai Baba appeared in Mr. pPradhan's son & grandson's dream the same night asking them to handover the same to Dixitji.... hence next morning as per Sai Baba's orders one of the 2 paintings was handed over to Dixitji & till date is worshiped at his residence.

The present one which is kept in Dwarkamai was painted later on by Jaikar saheb...even the picture that is posted along wth the above article on your blog is not the one in Dwarkmai it is a replica of the same ..am attaching the pics of the one in Dwarakami as well d one at dixitji's resi with this mail ....u can see d diferencef in facial expression & other details.

regards,

Sai Baba devotee

P.S.: & yes in both the paintings at dixitjis resi wen u see the portrait of baba u feel that from every angle Baba is looking at u. His features are amazing.... u actually feel as if u r seeing him in person jst as baba ever said seeing my picture is equivalent of seeing me in person.

Words from Sai Baba mouth never untrue the divine power and divine protection

Following article submitted by Hetal Patil, is yet another incident that shows the power of words from the ocean of compassion, Shri Sai Baba of Shirdi. Hetal is also writing on another blog Shirdi Sai Baba experiences and is worth a visit for Sai Baba devotees.

As Sai Baba use to speak that the words from His mouth are never untrue, He never lied sitting in Masjid Mai. Few more incidents that come to the mind on the same subject is from Shri Sai SatCharitra Chapter 13. Where how Bhimaji Patil's severe disease, which kept on aggravating in spite of medication and doctors was cured with Sai Baba's words and sacred Udi.

How the malaria of Bala Ganpat was cured with unusual advice given by Sai Baba and the cure of the disease happened. The logical mind would never accept such advice for cure of disease, it was the divine power of the words from Sai Baba's mouth and the faith of His devotee Bala Ganpat that worked. Medical science would never come up with such a prescription for a disease, the divine power is above the logical mind and the science arising from mind. Another incident that happened with the millionaire devotee Bapusaheb Buti also just indicated that. He was attacked by the dreaded disease cholera, being a millionaire a certified medical doctor and an intelligent man Dr. Pillai assisted him most of the time. Dr. Pillai gave all kind of medicines and prescriptions that the medical science could give at that time. The disease kept on aggravating, Sai Baba told Bapusaheb Buti to drink
an infusion of almonds, walnuts, pistachio (a kind of dry fruit), boiled in sugared milk. Dr. Pillai was shaken hearing the prescription given by Sai Baba but both Bapusaheb and the Doctor had immense faith in Sai Baba's word and the disease was cured followed by prescription fallen from Sai Baba's mouth.

Another one incident described in Shri Sai SatCharitra, Chapter 36 shows the faith of Shama on Sai Baba's word. He told Sai Baba to bless a lady with words that she will have a child. The lady and her husband had tried many remedies from medical to spiritual for a child to be born.

Shama told , "I know the power of Your word and blessing. Your word will give her a string or series of children. You are wrangling and not giving real blessing".

The parley went on for a while. Sai Baba repeatedly ordering to break the coconut and Shama pleading for the gift of the unbroken fruit to the lady. Finally SaiBaba yielded and said, "She will have an issue". "When?" asked Shama. "In 12 months" was the reply. The cocoa-nut was therefore broken into two part, one was eaten by the two, the other was given to the lady.

The Shama turned up to the lady and said, "Dear madam, you are a witness to my words. If within 12 months you do not get any issue, I will break a cocoa-nut against this Deva's head and drive him out of this Masjid. If I fail in this, I will not call myself Madhav. You will soon realize what I say".

Sai Baba has prescribed us many ways for our spiritual growth and ending of our miseries, like reading of Sai SatCharitra, remembering and chanting of His name and Mantras or the God and Sadguru that we are devoted to. Performing Aratis, Puja to His picture or idol, singing His glory, giving or surrendering our miseries and difficulties to Him and much more. The assurances that fall from His mouth we come across while reading Sai SatCharitra and His stories and discussing His leelas.

Below is the article from Hetal

Appa Kulkarni:
Appa Kulkarni was a Talati (a government official who keeps record of land of all villagers) of Shirdi. At that time Talati was considered as a king. He had such powers that he could change government records as per his wish. People were so illiterate that whatever Talati said they accepted it blindly. They did not have courage to go to collector also.
Appa had changed some papers on his own wish, so somebody had complained against him. Its investigation was to be done by a provisional officer of Kopergaon. In the primary investigation of papers, the officer found to be something wrong. So the provincial officer called him to Ahmednagar to ask him some questions face to face.
On the day decided, before going to Ahmednagar, he first went to Dwarkamai, he bowed to Sai Baba’s feet. He was very anxious and sad. He was frightened also. He caught Sai Baba’s feet and requested Sai Baba, “Save me, save me”. I am so stupid I do not have such a brain that I can understand your incredible strength and effect. This is the result of my bad deeds, I have done such deeds due to my ignorance. Oh God! Now you please save me, I have come for your rescue”.
Sai Baba is very kind. He is kind to a criminal also. Sai Baba said, “Son, you don’t go to Ahmednagar. You go to Nevasaa ( a village nearby Shirdi). Don’t go directly to the court/office, before entering the village, you will meet Mohiniraj, you bow to him, He is Allah only. Allah would do you good.”
Provincial officer’s order was to be present in Ahmednagar court, but Shirdi’s officer’s order (i.e. Sai Baba’s order) was to go to Nevasaa. Appa knew that Sai Baba is Brahma, His words are like Brahm Vani, they cant be untrue.
Sai Baba tests his devotees, but if any devotee puts his total belief in Sai Baba he is free from all calamities. Appa had full confidence in Sai Baba’s words, so he decided, “What ever may be the consequences, I would adhere to Sai Baba’s words. Government may give me any punishment for not going to Ahmednagar court. Sai Baba with thousand hands is seated here to save me”.
Mohnish means Lord Shankar. See Sai Baba’s greatness! Although he was God incarnate, He sent Appa to take blessings of Lord Shankar. After praying to Lord Shankar, when Appa proceeded to the outskirts of the village, he saw the provincial officer seated at that point, who Appa was to meet at Ahmednagar. The officer turned some pages and with the inspiration of Sai Baba, he declared Appa to be innocent.
Appa returned to Shirdi and fell at Sai Baba’s feet. He said, “Oh God, You are only Lord Vishnu and Lord Shankar. To make the world pure, You have come, whose stories when read, heard or sand, men could cross the world of oceans. Oh my kind Sai I bow to You.

Jai SaiNath - Aum Sai Ram

Nanasaheb Dengle’s house in Nimgaon was always full of servants. Dengle family was very famous. Any government personnel who visited Nimgaon were the guests of the Dengle family and they used to sleep in Dengle family’s bungalow.
Nanasaheb was issueless although he had two wives. By Sai Baba’s grace this became possible and the news spread in all the ten directions. After this incident many learned men and other people started coming to Shirdi to bow to the Lotus Feet of Sai Baba.
When a son was born to Nanasaheb Dengle, the whole family was so overflowed with happiness that space to absorb the happiness was insufficient in their hearts
Nanasaheb Dengle ordered to prepare various types of dishes for Sai Baba. The servants prepared a variety of items (total of 56 items, Chhapan Bhog as is commonly called) to be offered to Sai Baba.
They went to Shirdi with all the variety of foods served in silver plates and bowls, to be served to Sai Baba admist band and music. Baba stared at all the items for a moment but He did not touch them. Baba had no taste and so He was not in want of all these eatables. So if we want to serve Him, only His mere glance is enough. At that moment, a hungry dog came to the threshold of Dwarkamai. How could our beloved Sai Baba even touch the food before feeding the hungry dog? He ordered that the dish full of eatables must be given to that hungry dog.
This shows that Sai Baba was not only the God of humans, but of all the animals, ants, insects, birds and of everything in this world.
Nanasaheb Dengle could not speak a word but he was very sad. As the moon light becomes white when the sun shines brightly in the afternoon, so was the face of Nanasaheb Dengle. He thought, “The dish full of eatables was given to the dog! Oh, I prepared the food with so much of love”.
Thinking so, Nanasaheb again prepared the dish for Baba with the remaining food brought. But this time also Baba did not even touch the food. Of course, He had accepted the love of Nanasaheb.
Wherever Sai Baba is offered food now also, He surely comes and even put a glance over the food. Baba may come in the form of housefly or a mosquito and there is no doubt that the food is accepted.
Those who don’t even drink tea in the morning and evening without offering to Sai Baba, there would be no dearth of food and clothes in their homes by the grace by Sai Baba.

Sai Baba's control over the roof wall

One day, in the afternoon, Sai Baba was having lunch with His Bhaktas. Baba took two to three morsels and said, “Aree Yaar, Thodi Der Tak Thehar Ja” (Oh Friend, Just Wait for Few Minutes).
Again after taking few more morsels, he said, “Abee Yaar Abhi Thehar” (Oh friend wait for now).Sai Baba used to speak many things which would confuse His devotees. So all the devotees present could not understand the meaning of SaiBaba’s words.
After everyone had finished their lunch, Shri SaiBaba asked all of them to take all the things out of Dwarkamai.
The devotees thought that Baba wanted to clean Dwarkamai and that’s why He had ordered them so. All the devotees joined in the work readily as they thought that in this way they would be able to serve SaiBaba in this way. When all the things were taken out of the Dwarkamai, Sai Baba said, “Ab Kuch Nahi” (Now there is nothing).
As soon as Sai Baba said these words, than the roof of Dwarkamai fell down. This shows that Sai Baba had acquired control over living and on even non living things like the roof.
The walls of Dwarkamai were very weak but SaiBaba did not give permission for its repairs to any devotee.

Sai Baba - Garib Nawaz

॥ ॐ सांई राम ॥

Sai Baba, God, Sadguru, Divine personification, the sacred, the highest, Karunasagar ( ocean of compassion), grace bestowing, the one who fills us with divine love, Data (giver), guide, the one who takes His devotees pain on Him, the one who frees from bondage, the list can go on.

Devtoees go to Sai Baba, remember Him, perform His Aratis, visit Shirdi, visit temlples, sing bhajans, sing his name (Namsmaran), perform puja, read Sai SatCharitra, light lamps, do seva, do seva (service) of poor and needy and hungry, and even this list can go on and on, so many devotees so many ways of devotion.

Sai Baba is also called as Garib (poor) Nawaz, what does the garib means, poor by money or health or failures. Yes that has a meaning, and we all recognize poverty in these terms, and seek escape or avoidance of this kind of poverty. But there is another poverty we should seek for or rather look at as we already have, which enables us for deeper hunger for devotion or bhakti, creates hunger for richness of Sai's love, Sai's grace, Sai's Kripa.

The poverty of mind, the poverty of self. Most of us also avoid to look at the poverty of mind and self. If we have to think about our selves, mostly it will choose the positive sides which makes it feel better, makes the self greater. I have this good quality and i am proud of it. Many a times it takes a corrupt form that of comparison in devotion. Look that person is always going to Temples, sing glories of Sai Baba, and/or any of the many forms of devotion, but .............. and this but can have numerous reasons .......... and the reasons the mind or self gives is not to bring the other devotee down but to feel great about the self, to feel 'look i am right'.

While praying to Sai Baba, while devotion or anytime because devotion has to be all the time. Not for half or couple of hours in a day and then put aside for the rest of the day. Devotion and remembrance has to be carried on while on work or rest, while playing with the children or talking with the friends or relatives. The hunger for Sai's love and devotion should lurk all the time.

Feeling 'i am right' or 'i am great' can prevent this. As Sai Baba's bhakt's we do have many plus points, by His love and grace. More important is to look for the poverty rather than this richness of self. We can get stuck at the richness, the richness that is good. It is there by His love and grace, now let me find the poverty that is within me and when i look at the poverty within me, it will create and urgency to get rid of it. To get rid of it i will remember and get devoted with more intensity as only He can remove the poverty, only the devotion can take away that poverty.

As long long as there is a feeling of me. i am the body, i am the mind, i am great the poverty is there. No matter how many plus point my mind may see comparatively. When that feeling goes, which goes by His grace and love, only His grace and love is felt and remembered, we can call ourselves true devotees. It should be Tu Hi Tu (you and only you).

Suddha Chaitanya

Nana (to Baba): Pray, tell us about SUDDHA CHAITANYA

Sai Baba: That is the origin, the essence, the foundation and the permeator
of the entire Universe sentient and insentient, as also the end of it.
The source is SUDDHA CHAITANYA. You cannot exactly describe,
'CHAITANYA', but every moment it exists in your existence. There is no
place without it, but it has no form or name. In that, it resembles air,
which has no colour or form to be seen and whose existence however, is
unquestionable. This SUDDHA CHAITANYA is called BRAHMAN. The wise do
upasana of it under the name BRAHMAN and then, they are called
BRAHMAVIT. All manifestations of life are contained within it. It is the
origin of all appearances, perceptions and knowledge. It is the one root
of the many. It pervades everything. It may be characterized at SAT and
ANANDA (bliss) and finally EKATVA (unity). All of us are that. We are
not distinct from that.
